And Other Stories.

Just in time for Valentine's Day comes one of the most stunning couple profiles I've seen. And Other Stories, a decidedly upscale high chain from parent company H&M, documented Michelle Harper and Jenny Shimizu in their home and on the streets of New York.

This stylish pairing are distinctly eclectic on their own; as a couple they are show stopping. Styled impeccably, their looks in the story reflect masculine and feminine in a way that is complementary without being, for the most part, identical. Lovey dovey without a saccharine aftertaste, I'm absolutely smitten with this editorial (and now I want that pink suit)!

PS. You can catch NYFW LIVE here on Style is Style, catch the catwalk here!

Friday Five.

Happy International Women's Day! In honor of this day, I want to start a new feature here at Style Is Style. Okay, it's more or less just because the idea struck me this AM, and not just because of International Women's Day.

Even when I write/post less, I am consistently reading many, many blogs. So now, I want to start featuring posts that I really enjoyed from the week(s). I love the community aspects of blogging, and sharing some of my favorite bloggers feels like a natural way to discuss and appreciate the many wonderful women (and men) of the Web.

I read Celia's article about personal style for The Regis this week, and it deeply resonated with me. Style should always mean falling more in love with oneself.

Christina's blog is a wealth of unconventional style and witty commentary, and this post about Viva Vena's "Fashion Film" was a perfect example of why. Hilarious, on point, and highlighting a wonderful design house as well.

I'm lucky to be working in a creative environment with a lax dress code (read: no dress code!). But my job requires some means of function from my wardrobe, which means that these days I am always on the lookout for clothes that allow for ease and comfort, without sacrificing personal style and expression. I can see several pieces from Calivintage's feature on Dusen Dusen's Fall 2013 which could seamlessly make their way into my wardrobe.

This isn't a new post, but The Closet Feminist's post about why fashion bloggers are revolutionary in my opinion, is a must read.

This outfit post is further proof that Bianca is the master of boyish vintage charm. She makes a pant-hater consider wearing trousers every day.

BONUS: An article for those of us who have been feeling discouraged lately (I definitely have) : Refinery29 touches on how to make your dreams come true, without being corny or cheesy.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend, let me know what you guys think of this feature, and if you enjoy the articles!

Wise Man Don't Exist.

2012: You were pretty dope. I learned a lot about myself, (finally!!!) identify as a feminist, starting feeling body positive enough to post a swimsuit photo on the internet, made several new web friends (want to meet you IRL, buds) and real life pals as well! Style is Style was featured in print and online, and I started working at a job I love. One which doesn't involve being covered in miscellaneous syrups at the end of the day. I even started wearing pants (er, jeggings) again.

I'd like to thank you, dear reader, for putting up with my lack of posting. I would like to say I'll post regularly in 2013, but I've come to realize that isn't always an option. I've been majorly sidetracked these past 12 months (broken down laptop, big trip + moving, new full time job) but I hope you guys do enjoy the content here at Style is Style. I enjoy having a platform where I can cultivate my voice, and share it with like-minded folks like you! I love you guys.

I'm looking forward to 2013 (even though it's an odd number). I feel like I am coming into my own, finding my style and slowly defining who I am, and who I want to be. Life keeps surprising me, and bringing unexpected blessings, be it opportunities or friendships. I would like to write more, style more, maybe even do a video post or two. It's a little strange that I'm rolling up on five years of Style is Style and I haven't spoken out loud on the blog. We'll see.

Hope you had a wonderful New Year's, and here's to a safe, happy and healthy 2013!

Oh, and just 'cause, here's my favorite outfits of 2012. Apparently all I wore in 2012 was skirts, collared blouses, and those Co-Operative wedges.

post title is from one of the most honest, moving, spot on songs I've ever heard.
