The Future Is Nigh.

A short post today! Last night I went out, and tried a different hairstyle+makeup than my standard brushed over bangs+eyeliner formula. It's fun to randomly go over the top or out of your norm, even though doing "experimental" makeup kind of freaks me out. I'm definitely no expert, but I'm trying to learn new tricks through the internet! What do you guys think?

A shout out to Coco+Creme for featuring my tumblr. Thanks so much!

UPDATE: Sorry about the photo not being visible earlier, here it is!

Soon We'll Be Found.

I haven't posted since last Friday! Eeep!An unintentional week hiatus... My first semester of fashion school is done! I had many projects/tests this past week, so I had to buckle down and sort of forget about the Internet for a little while. I'm back now! I've been doing lots of spring cleaning around here. A cleaner, simpler, more direct blog (hopefully). Someone mentioned that my blog took a while to load, and I think I fixed that (different header, less posts per page). Finally updated my links, these are the blogs I check on a regular basis, with more to come. Somehow I didn't have Calivintage on my list before, and I can safely say I check Erin's blog/tumblr almost religiously... Erin, I'm sorry!

For those of you wondering how to tie a scarf (my friends in real life seem to always be asking "How did you tie that?!?"), check out this very, very helpful tutorial from Modcloth! I usually do the "Tastemaker Wrap" or the "Bow Topper". Easy peasy, and I totally use them in efforts to cover up my lazy non-styling of the hair.

PS. Thank you Adam for taking these photos <3

The Aforementioned...

As I mentioned before, I won LNA leggings from Chickdowntown via Kennedy's lovely blog
(thank you yet again, Kennedy and Chickdowntown!) Their first outing was about 3 weeks ago to watch Where The Wild Things Are (which may very well be the perfect movie). The best part of the leggings has to be the zipper detail. It's an impeccable touch, making them far more interesting than run-of-the-mill ubiquitous legwear. This dress was from a garage sale, at which I got it with two skirts for $5, and which I altered. It used to be a longer waisted, 80's style wrap dress, now it's a one shouldered wonder. I do love my D.I.Y.'s!

Cutouts.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about all the clashing colors but
one thing I know for sure about this outfit: I can't wait to D.I.Y. that skirt!
The cutouts blow my mind, imagine the possiblities...

D.I.Y-ing!

I made a headband too! I had some feathers lying around
(hard to imagine, I'm sure...but I did!) and hot glued
them onto an old headband. I think I could probably do a
bit of a better job next time,
but I think I did pretty darn well for a first try.
Expect to see more of them in the future....

It's getting hot in hurr.

I like how my circle scarf is now...
a sexy asymmetrical skirt!
Expect to see me rock this style more often, I'm in love.*

D.I.Y.?

So this tunicy, striped thing was originally for the store BUT...
It's slowly growing on me.
I'm think maybe a D.I.Y. a la Lily Allen in this Dolce and Gabbana dress.
A red sailboat might do it some good, non?
Thoughts?

P.S. I like how we are almost hair twins ;)
