Peplum.

A fun filled day off after a super long stretch of work (9 days to be exact)! After a scrumptious breakfast at The Templeton, Adam and I went South Granville this weekend and sniffed delicious candles at Anthropologie. That store's scent is intoxicating, and so are the interiors! So many shades of grassy greens and juicy tangerine. Speaking of tangerine...I am excited to see it popping up everywhere. I think we have Pantone to thank (or shake a fist at) for this one! Although this skirt is a slightly more chilli red/orange, I love the intensity paired with the super comfortable cotton jersey. I've scored quite a few jersey pencil skirts from Forever 21 recently, and now they are a bonafide staple in my wardrobe. Also, say hello to the perfect pretty/dressy/feminine blouse! Only $8 at my local Value Village, I looked around to make sure no one would steal this amazing find. I've always been a fan of peplums, I couldn't be more pleased with the sudden influx of them for spring. You might say that a peplum puts a little spring in my step...  Oh yes, a certain shoe/tights pairing yet again; I can't resist these tights with these wedges! They are certainly a match made in heaven.

PS: In light of what I have been posting recently, this is a truly awesome article about self esteem/acceptance from ROOKIE magazine. AKA the magazine that I wish existed in when I was in high school, and which is super kick ass. A recommended read.

Happy Birthday!

Finally getting around to posting my "going out" outfit for my birthday in September.
I love love love this dress, it's royal blue and fits like a dream.
Best part? It was under $20 at Forever 21.
Again, the photos turned out a little grainy, so bear with me.
I must have turned on some setting back then because of lot of pictures from that time come out like that once I upload them.
Don't worry, I've currently fixed whatever I did, and grainy pictures should cease soon enough.

Thrifted tap shoes, denim jacket.

Cirque 21!

Ok, so I used to have the biggest love affair with F21...
Then it began getting more trendy and cheaper quality, and we had a falling out.
Slowly but surely, it's winning me back over, if not with the clothes, than at least all the ideas from their styling. Take for example the latest collection, "Cirque 21" from Forever 21 Twist. Almost every single outfit is like something out of my dress up dreams.
Tulle, polka dots, headpeices, ruffles!!! Even the model's hair is like my old haircut.
Most of the outfits can be replicated with peices from my closet too :)
I feel many a circus themed outfit coming this way!

Reality.

So my last post was all about how a lot of the time girls
feel like shizz just because they don't fit into a tiny little box (or dress) of ideals.
Sounds like someone is hearing the collective dismay.
Forever 21 launched Faith 21 today...
and for the first time that I can remember, I saw models
wearing cute clothes that looked like me!
I love F21 as much as the next girl (Cheap and cute? I'm definitely there)
but have always found it difficult to find things that would actually fit me in their stores.
Not anymore...I'm overwhelming happy at this step in a new direction,
especially because Forever 21 is a well known chain store.
Perhaps others will start the same!
L.A. Times and several other media outlets (Such as Glamour)
make the point that the plus size market is the largest untapped sales market.
Maybe this will desensitize the fear of "plus size" and make retailers
realize that yes, there is a young plus size market who is dying for
cute, trendy, in style clothes that fit.
We'll see.
