The Last of Bumbershoot.

The third day of the festival was definitely the best!!!
First up was Improvised Shakespeare, who performed "A Midsummer Night's Wet Dream"
(titled by an audience member's suggestion)
Needless to say, we nearly died laughing!
We also caught the Black Eyed Peas show, where Fergie was clad in the worst "romper" I've ever seen in my life. Look at the picture for evidence. Regardless, the show turned out to be really fun, despite a couple of technical difficulties and looming rain clouds.

Wandering the grounds during some down time, we discovered Flatstock. Imagine a giant room filled with booths of gorgeous posters from all of your favourite bands, perfect for hanging in your room. This was heartbreaking because we couldn't buy any posters. We were going to be on the rainy festival grounds the rest of the day, and a soggy poster just didn't seem worth it. I suppose there is always next year...

The concert lineup for that evening was amazing. We got to catch the first half of Janelle Monae's show. She is the tiniest powerhouse you've even seen, with an amazing voice, sweet wardrobe, and flippin' awesome hair! Then we booked it across the fairgrounds to get up close and personal with Franz Ferdinand! They were amazing live even though the mosh pit was really crazy for the first 20 minutes of the show. Eventually it turned into a giant party. I tried to get a picture during the madness, but with all the people all I could get was grainyness. We stayed for almost the whole show, and then went across the fairgrounds again to catch the final show, Metric. Such a phenomenal show! Emily Haines and her crew were so good, we didn't want to leave! As we walked homeward, we could hear Float On echoing from the festival grounds, as Modest Mouse wrapped up their set.

All in all Bumbershoot was possibly the most fun I've ever had in a weekend, I loved every minute!

More Bumbershoot!

Sunday was AMAZING. We saw The Red Wine Boys and Aziz Ansari. We couldn't take pictures in the comedy show, but Sarah Silverman showed up and took part in The Red Wine Boys act. Aziz was really really funny, and super cute (so I'm sad I couldn't take any pictures).
Before the comedy stuff, we saw The Yeah Yeah Yeahs!!! It was a phenomenal show, Karen O is one of the most charismatic performers I've seen. I almost cried during Maps, it was sung so heartbreakingly, and the whole crowd was singing along softly. A moment I'll always remember, for sure. Karen wore this crazy jumpsuit thing, that had layers that could come off, and a killer spiked glove. The K.O. jacket from the Zero video also made an appearance, and yes, it's just as spectacular in real life.

Other highlights from Sunday:
Katie debuting her vintage velvet hair bow from Red Light in Seattle. They were $0.50 (I got a green one). Also, we went to Burgermaster, which was throughly amusing since we don't have drive in diners anymore in Canada.

Bumbershoot,CONT.

First day of the festival!
Katy Perry was feeling under the weather but put on a good show,
jumping around but still somehow keeping her perfect ringlets perfectly ringlet-y.
She made me want to be her best friend,
and had the coolest tie dye tulle romper, I'm super jealous.
Then we walked around the grounds,
and the evening watched Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground...they were such a trip!
It was quite surreal, a dreamy and inspiring show.

Bumbershoot, Pt. 1.

The Bumbershoot Music Festival was SO much fun, and as you can expect there are lots of pictures to go along with that. Kate and I set out on a beautiful September morning, and in our usual fashion, we had to stop for a sunrise photoshoot.
More Bumbershoot/roadtrip action to come!
