Happy Chinese New Year! I'm going for dim sum with some friends today in celebration, I'll be sure to share some photos later this week.

I was oh-so-lucky to go to Squamish and Whistler over the New Year's weekend. I sometimes forget how beautiful British Columbia is: forests, mountains, desert and shores, we've got it all! On New Year's Day my mom and I took a walk around the property of the Hotel. It had been a while since I'd been a forest, it reminded me how much I loved it as a kid. Definitely need to do that more in 2012.

Also going to happen more in 2012: Bettie Page bangs! I've somewhat mastered retro bangs, you can bet I will be rocking this whenever possible. They have the magical ability to make every pair of sunglasses look that much cooler, and add a more "finished" polish to outfits.

Some might say I am a bit of a magazine junkie, and I wouldn't disagree. But, in light of one of my New Year's Resolutions, I recently got rid of 3+ boxes of magazines that I had stockpiled in my year of school. I ripped out all the editorials and images I wanted to keep for my inspiration binders, and a spread in Paper magazine particularly caught my eye. I was enamored with the way that couture pieces were made to be just a part of the narrative, not the center peice. I had all but forgotten about it until a photo from the spread popped up on my Tumblr dashboard. I've chosen some of my favorite images from the shoot, but you should click through and view the whole spread. I have major love for Autumn De Wilde's photography, and Shirley Kurata is quickly becoming one of my style (and styling) icons.

Shots from day one of a weekend trip to Victoria with my mom and our exchange student. Wayyyy back when (September) I had was lucky enough to escape from school work for a millisecond and see beautiful Victoria. The weather wasn't that great, but the rest was appreciated just the same. Hanging out with Emily Carr (the female statue) and faux whale watching with my mom were pretty awesome.

I surprisingly haven't posted this dress on here before, it was a steal of a deal from ASOS in August. I need to document it more, the contrast piping is most excellent. My apologies for the big spot in the photo, I had to get my Mom to take the picture, and I only had one shot!

One lovely part of being a known vintage lover is that, on occasion, friends parents will give me old articles of clothing. Adam's mom has bestowed me with lovely lace up boots. She surprised me this summer with sunglasses that were identical to a pair of Karen Walker's which I had been majorly lusting over. Genuine vintage: yes please!

Isn't the collar of Marisa's dress amazing? It's an adorable little shift from H&M. As for me, I had been yearning to try out sheer layers in dress or skirt form. I took out the ill-fitting underlayer from this skirt, and now sheer times are mine! I miss the warm summer sun and being able to wear only denim jackets and sheer layers. COME BACK MR. SUN.

Party Dress.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!I hope it was exactly the night you hoped for: for me, that meant watching 90's music videos with my mom and being chilled out with my little sister. Admittedly we almost slept through midnight, but it was a welcome change from my high anticipated (but sorely disappointing) New Year's the past couple of years. After my lovely mini vacation to Squamish/Whistler, I am feeling quite renewed and refreshed. I can't remember the last time I felt a sense of calm like I do right now.

Now for this, my first outfit post of 2012, we are going to pretend that it is still this warm in Vancouver (it isn't) and that these are "new" photos (they aren't). I still have a ton of backlog from 2011, but that just means a solid flow of outfit posts for you guys!

My resolutions this year include bettering myself (exercise more, eat at home more often, maybe sleep properly once in a while) as well as many plans for this here blog and its affiliates. I apologize for my somewhat erratic updating in 2011, life can get the best of you, ya know?

I've got really good vibes about 2012... 22 in 2012. For someone who loves even numbers, this year should promise to be a good one. Superstition perhaps, but it makes me feel alright.2011 was full of many new faces and changes in my life.As unsure as I still feel about my future plans, I finally feel like I am headed on some sort of path. After a couple years of wandering aimlessly, it feels good to have goals and aspirations again.

2011 was possibly one of my hardest years to date...I don't think I've wanted to bury my head in the sand more often, or had more mini-life crisis. But, thanks to my wonderful friends and family, I made it, with nary a scratch. I have been very blessed to have an ever expanding circle of gracious and understanding friends, all of whom I owe many good times and laughter to.

Here is my New Year's present to you: A beyond cute video featuring two very adorable and talented people (Zooey & JGL).

By chance, I wore a pleated skirt to school the day we were discussing Issey Miyake in class. His couture is mind boggling, due to a masterful understanding of construction and form. Faithful Friends Who Are Dear To Us...

Yes, it is Christmas Eve. I'm not sure why exactly, but this year, I just haven't been in the Christmas mood. Perhaps it's because it's the first Christmas Eve I will spend away from home (I work Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day) or perhaps because it's my first Christmas in 5 years without a significant other... I will admit, I've perhaps been a bit of a Scrooge this year. But, this evening and tomorrow should prove to lift my spirits! I am spending this orphan Christmas Eve with friends, and will be going home after my shift tomorrow just in time for delicious dinner and long awaited times with my family.

Part of my pick me up was donning this very pepperminty ensemble. Yes, I cheated a little since I'll be wearing it tomorrow, but I couldn't wait to share! Say hello to my party skirt (black flocked polka dots!!!) and my $1.50 Ferragamo knock offs. Thrifted gold I tell ya!

When Tights Please UK contacted me, I was overjoyed. You may have noticed that I have a (major) thing for hoisery, especially novelty prints and colors. As a girl who doesn't wear pants, it's a necessity to have tights to keep me warm on cooler days. I have been in love with all of Henry Holland's hoisery, and when I was asked to pick a pair, there was no way I could resist these Bingo Ball tights. I think they just might be the epitome of novelty tights!!! Fun filled and a little silly, I was practically prancing all day.

All You Wanted And More.

Here are the pictures from my first ever shoot! Everything was picked out by yours truly. I must say, it was pretty darn fulfilling to get the final shots back (it was for a school assignment) and discover that the photos turned out far better than I anticipated. I felt as though I was kind of just throwing items together and hoping that the elements would come together on my models. As it were, my intuition was indeed trustworthy!

Marisa's look is inspired by the "Eclectic Muse" (think Susie Bubble/Catherine Baba/Chloe Sevingy/a bevy of internet it girls and various lovelies that inspire me) while Grace's look was inspired by the work of Henry Darger and his Vivian Girls.

Thanks to Marisa and Grace for being wonderful models! I'm proud of these, and I hope you enjoy some Monday morning dreaminess :)

Yes I know. It was ages ago but...this year, my Halloween was spent styling a shoot for one of my final projects. Grace and Marisa were my models, and despite how frazzled I was going in, the photos turned out far more beautiful than I expected! The last photo is from said shoot, I will post the entire thing on Monday.

For now, here is me as "Fashion Cat (Chic Chat)", my last minute costume that was really an excuse to wear my leopard print cat ears. Also, how genius is this hoodie cape? I am always looking for cute ways to be warm and comfy, and this satisfies both of those needs.

Back On Track.

I am just getting used to not having to go to school or do schoolwork. It means so much free time! I have neglected a lot of hobbies this past year, and I am very happy to be able to read, draw and write again. I've got to keep busy, or else I go a little insane.

As you can see, this fur collar/jacket combo is one of my favorites (I even wore it in my last post). The best part of this pairing is that it was less than $5! The jacket was a dollar (yes I know, A DOLLAR) and the collar was 3 bucks. Snooty badass awesomeness for under five dollars? Yes please!

I am trying to get through the embarrassing amount of summer outfit photos I still haven't posted before December! We'll see if that happens.

In other news, I am finally, FINALLY done all my projects and classes. I am unsure what's next, which is super frightening...but I suppose it's what everyone goes through post-grad. Here's hoping I will be able to make my dreams come true (and not be a barista for eternity).

A Revelation In The Light Of Day.

Saga Sig is a photographer that I have lauded before on this blog...but she deserves more praise. Her work is so diverse and yet completely unified. Perhaps it's the fact that she grew up in an Icelandic national park that gives her the ability to embrace the supernatural elements of nature. I came across this shoot recently, when searching for inspiration for a school project. I can still remember when I first saw these images, more than two years ago. Orla Kiely is a perennial favorite label of mine. Each collection is brimming with beautiful "basics" that I wish lived in my wardrobe. Never fussy, and yet still intricate and interesting. I enjoyed perusing the SS2012 collection via Blooming Leopold, there are so many looks with sweetly feminine tailored details. And all those collars! SWOON. I was especially excited to see that the looks were paired with wedges that are almost identical to the Ecote studded wedges I got for $10 a couple weeks back. I will definitely be pairing the black pair with black socks!

I love converting dresses and rompers into "separates". It makes it feel as though the pieces is actually 3 items of clothing, which is pretty flippin' awesome if you ask me. 3 FOR 1!What I am getting at is that I realized I can pretend this romper is just a pair of obnoxious floral shorts, which brings a smile to my face.

Today is my last day of classes. I cannot believe it's been a year!!! I am relieved and a little sad that the end is here. THANK YOU to my teachers, friends and family who kept me from quitting many, many, MANY times. I am so grateful to have such an awesome support group! I'm very happy that I got the opportunity to learn a wealth of knowledge which I wouldn't have encountered otherwise, and to have met some lifelong friends. I'm a blessed gal!

Another oldie, but a goodie! In class, we got to watch an old CK benefit runway show with Marky Mark wearing scandalous boxers and being a bad boy of the 90s. I'm not going to lie, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute... Also, my instructor has a autographed photo of Marky in that iconic ad. YUM.

I love hanging out with Zoë! Yesterday we ate at Lucy's, roamed Main street and mused about blogging and life. Our day consisted of mowing down on really delicious food, checking out lovely vintage and singing along to BSB (okay, that last part was just me...) It's a pretty wonderful thing that something like blogging led me to meet a new friend, especially one who I've hit it off so well with. I tend to find that hanging with fellow bloggers, I get so busy chatting I forget to properly document. I apologize for the lack of photos, it just means we were having a good time! How cute is Marisa's cat scarf? This day involved school and a love chat afterwards with Emily. Things might get very quiet around here in the next couple of weeks, I am entering my final weeks of school (forever?)! You can always check my tumblr for inspiration, it's the easiest for me to keep updated.

Turning thrifted or vintage items into something else is one of my favourite aspects of older clothing. This skirt used to be a girl's dress, I lopped off the top and viola! I have me a velvet skirt, perfect for this winter. As for these lovely oxfords, I'm going to be heartbroken when they are too worn in to wear. The patent exterior is so lovely, but they are slowly crackling away :(

Also, the sort of grouchy face I making is just me squinting at the sunshine.

TOPSHOP.

I thought the day would never come: Topshop in Vancouver! The Brits have landed in The Bay downtown!!! Marisa and I thought it'd be the perfect for our Styling end-of-term project, involving trying on all the lovely wares in the Topshop section. A little birdy told me that come spring, the entire basement will be TopMan and TopShop...I can't wait! The palettes and fabrics are so lovely, it's going to be hard to purchase anything at H&M after getting a taste of real high street.

As for my outfit, I snagged another super cheap pair of shoes at UO this week! This wedges cost...wait for it.......$10!!! I'd lusted after them all season, and finally they are mine. Perfectly neutral but still an interesting shape, not to mention super comfy and lightweight too. Yay bargain hunting! Good things come to those who wait?

I've got an insane backlog of outfit posts from the summertime... which means lots of outfit posts coming your way!This blouse has got to be one of my favourite thrift store finds. The print is delightfully psychedelic! Just the right amount of obnoxious for me. As for the skirt, I scored it for $3 in a Salvation Army in Bellingham, WA. I considered shortening it when I originally bought it, which was actually about 2 years ago. After seeing many midi chiffon pleated skirts pop up all over the internet (and magazines), I realized that the original length was perfect as is!

Another bonus shot of Marisa's wonderful style. This was before the blue tips (clearly), but I love the lace shirt layered with all black.

One Fine Day.

This was a wonderful summer day, spent visiting the Waldorf Hotel, which is situated so perfectly in relevance to our house. There were several art exhibits/galleries and production companies set up in different rooms, and Kate and I had fun wandering through.

I wish the weather had been warmer this summer, I only got to wear this dress a couple of times! It's a real shame, since it's one of the first dresses I've had that has great back details. Funny story, I snagged this dress when it accidentally got priced at $20! I caught it (and know the protocol), and the sweet deal was mine.

I've got to admit, I was a little nervous to post a photo of my...erm...rear view. As a lady who is blessed (or cursed) in the area of booty, I am always unnerved by photos shot from behind. Wanted Shoes was so kind to send a pair of oxford heels a little while ago! I'd be searching for quite some time for a pair, but nothing quite fit the bill. I love the cone heel, and the contrast detail on the vamp. I'd be lying if I said I haven't been tempted to wear them with almost every outfit this week. I'm a lucky gal!

This top is from an excellent boutique at Main & 10th called The Archtype. Mitzi and I had been there together about a year ago. When we revisited it on my birthday, we discovered that the stock has gotten much better since then. They carry many wholesale independent designers that I didn't realize were available in Vancouver! If you are on Main, you should pop by.

In other news: Marisa dyed her ends blue! She was already super gorgeous, but I feel like the colored tips take her to...anotha level!!! Har har. Admire her aqua locks!

I had the privilege of catching Yelle's Vancouver show at the Commedore Ballroom in early summer. It ended up being quite the evening, with Adam and I out until the wee hours of the morning (although we didn't originally plan to do so)! The show was spot on, the band was so energetic and sweet. We managed to stand right in the front, and I couldn't help but get real sweaty! We danced our hearts out the entire time. This was the night that broke the soles of these wedges entirely in half... How sweet is Yelle's red cheetah catsuit? It is one of the coolest unitards I've ever seen!

PS. If you ever need a reason to dance, this song should get you in the mood. I can't techtonik like the dancers, but the song gets me going!

Another silly date after school on Wednesday with Marisa. This time we went to Dressew and lingered in the "bridal" section. I don't know why, but I always want to wear bridal headwear for daytime. Most of the time I hope that no one notices the resemblance to bridal accouterments...

Say hello to one of my newly acquired monster wedges. I splurged at Urban Outfitters as a sort of early birthday present to myself...I can't say that they are all that comfortable but they are very pretty to look at. Sometimes, that's all that matters.

We ate lunch at La Taqueria that day, one of my favourite haunts on W. Hastings. Tasty lunches and very cute boys (seriously, one of them is a dead ringer for Jake Gyllenhaal. I do not kid about these things). Basically two things I love in the same place. WIN.

I nearly fell out of my chair the first time I heard Mountain Men. I'm not quite sure how they slipped past my radar, but I have fallen hard and fast for this trio. A sucker for harmonic, melodic folky sounds, these three make some of the sweetest music I've heard in a long time. The way their voices blend is a feat, and the result are honeyed tunes with folk, country and vintage influences. You can listen to their YouTube playlist here, I hope you love them as much as I do!

Just a quick post today! This jumper is probably one of my most beloved thrifted finds. I love jumpers and rompers for the very reason that they layer very well, but are usually pretty outstanding as pieces themselves. Also, jumpers fool me into thinking I'm wearing a school uniform, and that makes getting dressed ten times easier. Love me some simple dressing! Back when Modcloth featured me on their blog, they sent a lovely package with my namesake dress and a couple of other things. I nearly cried with joy when I saw that the Cambridge Satchel was part of the care package. I've been stalking this beauty ever since I saw it on the web some 3 years ago, and finally I've got one of my own! I think she'll only get better with age.

I was lucky enough to receive a Stop Staring dress a couple of weeks ago, and I knew it would be perfect for my birthday. I've always admired the saucy pinup vibe of the company's dresses, but hadn't been able to wear one yet. The silhouette and color are out of my usual comfort zone, but what better time than a new year to break out of the norm?

My birthday was honestly amazing. I saw so, so, SO many people that I love. I had dinner at home in Abbotsford with my whole family on Wednesday night (Momma made me ribs, YUM) and spent the day on Thursday hanging out with Mitzi. We ate lunch at East is East (absolutely delicious if you are ever on Main) and took in some vintage shopping! That evening, we went to Havana on Commercial for a scrumptious dinner. Afterwards we went out and danced the night away. I managed 3 wardrobe changes, but only managed to capture decent photos of one. Oh, and a bonus shot of me and the wonderful Hello Kitty cake Kate made me! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

One of my other hobbies that I haven't really mentioned that much on here is playing music with my best friend, Kate. We try to hold little coffee shop performances every 3 months, and as much as practicing is time consuming, it's always super rewarding. Music was (and still is) my first love, and I really enjoy playing with Kate. We've been singing together for so long that we can kind of predict which harmony line the other will sing... If you want to here some music from Kate, you can find a bunch of videos on her Youtube. This one is a rough recording of a cover we did together. We want to do videos and real recordings, and I'll be sure to post here when we do!

These shots are from our performance at the beginning of July at Cuppa Joy. It's one of the best venues we've played in, intimate and perfect acoustics! In case you are wondering, Kate plays guitar and sings, and I play tambourine, egg shaker and sing.

A couple of months ago, I stumbled upon an adorable line out of California called Lola Paige. They make beach inspired dresses and separates, but with a vintage inspired twist. I was pretty excited to wear this dress. I mean, how flippin' cute and easy is this piece? Equally exciting: I GOT KORK EASE. I've been lusting after these ever since CaliVintage got her first pair...but they were always a little out of my reach financially. Aritzia's end of summer sale meant that a little pavement-pounding and $50 later, Avas were finally mine! It's like walking on air, and I am so much taller.

I'm technically on a mini-vacation with Kate, starting today. It'll only be until Friday afternoon, but after the stressfulness of this past semester, I really need a break!

I think I'm going to alter this dress (don't like how loose the chest is), but haven't quite gotten around to it yet. This outfit was worn way back when, at the beginning of summer. Kate and I spent the afternoon walking around Commercial Drive, and discovered some vintage shops that are pretty close to home. Julian Briggs is one of my favorite people; stylish, handsome, charming and witty! Sigh. I loved that we accidentally psuedo matched each other on this particular day, and that we were able to shoot some sweet photos while thrifting in Richmond. Afternoons with him and Marisa have some of my favorite since moving to this city. Thanks again Marisa for the wonderful photos! By the way, I've been living in Vancouver for a year!!! Sorry for not posting yesterday, homework likes to get the best of me.

I must say, ever since the SS11 shows last fall, I've been anxiously awaiting the rise of color blocking. I'm not sure it's really a trend, since I think it's never really out of style. I guess it's just really in this summer. Point being, I am happy to wear bright, obnoxious, solid colors all at once!

Julian and Marissa yet again accompanied me on adventures involving coffee shop existential convos, and jaywalking to do an alleyway photoshoot. Yes, we like to stop traffic. Oh also, let it be known that Julian DIY-ed that magnificent leather jacket. Delicious!

sidenote: These lovely wedges have since met their maker. After a night out, I discovered the wedge was completely split in half on both shoes, held together only by the soles. Still not sure how I did that to rubber wedges...

I'll admit, I spend most of last week lounging about in the Style is Style dress. It's pretty much perfection, if I do say so myself. Thanks again to ModCloth for everything, I still can't believe it!

This was the most wonderful Sunday, spent with great friends and delicious food! Cassie and Nisha were in town from Abbotsford, and Kate and I spent a sunny day with them in the city. The Templeton is one of my favourite downtown haunts and I discovered this week that you can poutine your fries! For all you non-Canadians, poutine may very well be the best thing to happen to fries. Actually, I know it is. AMAZING.

I had the fortune of finding a black straw porkpie hat at H&M that day, and I liked it so much I wore it out of the store! That rarely happens, trust me. It was $10 in the Men's section! And yes, Kate is trying on the Jeffery Campbell unicorn heels. Sadly, no, they didn't come home with us!

I had the pleasure of taking an amazing class last semester that covered major trends in fashion from 1900 to the 1970s. Being a lover of vintage, I was familiar with a lot of the subject matter, but I found out there was a LOT I didn't know. Spending 4 hours a week soaking up knowledge about the great designers (and trends) of the 20th century was to say the least, a dreamy ideal for me! This particular day, my instructor brought in her limited edition Christian Dior "New Look" Barbie. She is not only is wearing exact copies of his 1947 "Corolle" collection but also has authentic underpinnings as well! I don't think I've been this enamored with a Barbie since I was 8.

The only logical after school activity for fashion students? Reading the latest glossies at Chapters. Marisa and I tend to get a little silly around each other...

Hello lovely readers! I apologize for the lack of updates lately. I had a (long awaited!!!) break from school and work, and I've been spending a lot of time IRL. Hanging out with my family, friends and boyfriend. Also, I currently don't have Internet at home, so I'm depending on lugging my laptop to Starbucks until it gets fixed in the next week.

Now that I've recharged my batteries, you can expect more posts around here! There is lots in the works for Style is Style, and I'm really excited to share it all with you guys as it comes up. As I write this, I am almost the very age my mother was when she had me. That fact is kind of surreal, considering I feel like I can barely take of myself, let alone another life. I have been very blessed to have an extraordinary woman as my mother. She, like so many other moms, took on the role of Superwoman. She raised 3 children, and kept us happy, fed and loved, while also working outside of the home. I am overwhelmed with gratitude and appreciation for all that you did for us Mama. You taught me to be strong and to always depend on myself, an invaluable lesson. I hope that one day I will be half the mother you've been to me.

To all of the mothers of the world, Happy Mother's Day! We ♥ You!

I think this is the furthest I've wandered out of my zone, fashion wise, in a very long time. I'm still unsure if I like midi length hems on me, but I'll admit that it looked better than I thought it would! I was, however, weirded out by how much fabric was on my shins. Scary. Who knows, maybe I'll start wearing *gasp* PANTS?

Yes, I ate sushi that day. I like have excuses to put gratuitous yummy food pics on here :)

As a female in the Western world, the topic of beauty and what it does and doesn't mean, seems to come up on a daily basis in one form or another. A girl's snide remark about a celebrity's nose, chit chat between friends about all the things that are "wrong" with our faces and bodies, or a quiet thought to yourself as you pass someone you find beautiful. "I wonder what it's like to look like that, everyday?" I was inspired to do this post by *cue cheesy eyerolls* this week's episode of Glee. Yes, I know it's corny, but I've been thinking a lot lately about what it means to be beautiful. I've touched on a similar issue before on the blog, but I feel like bringing it up again.

I have always, since I can remember, felt as though I was outside the realm of "pretty girls". When I was growing up, my parents, when praising or complimenting me, would say things like 'You're smart' or 'talented' or 'did a good job', which in hindsight, was probably a very good thing. These remarks taught me that I should value my intelligence and talents and not rely on my looks. But on the flipside, those compliments reinforced an idea in my head that I was not beautiful. Although smart and articulate, I would not be considered pretty by the rest of the world. Now, I'm sure this sounds a little melodramatic, but for a long time, this is how I felt. Then came blogging. When I started out posting photos of me in my backyard almost 3 years ago, I was sort of just doing it as an experiment. I was finding many beautiful and real girls who wore the coolest outfits, and I was inspired to try and dress to please myself, just like they were. In the beginning, I wasn't nearly as confident as I am now. But as time passed, and I got compliments and encouragment from random strangers who really had no obligation to boost my self esteem, I started to think that maybe I did have something to offer.

The world of blogging can be kind of overwhelming at times, because you find blog after blog after blog of thin, modelesque (sometimes they are models) girls, who have amazing wardrobes, perfect faces and a seemingly endless wallet. Believe or not, there are many times when I feel doubtful of myself. It could be a rude look from a stranger, or a glance at an ad that makes me think 'I'll never look like that.' And I admit, there are times when I wonder: "Is there a point to me doing this? I mean, I don't look like I just came off a runway, and I'm certainly not wearing Christian Louboutins, Marc Jacobs, or the lastest Mui Mui heels. How can I be an inspiration, or even interesting with such meager means? Would anyone even want to read my blog?" But I think that you lovely readers have shown me that just because someone is of a different background or body type doesn't make their point of view any less valid or interesting. I appreciate every email and every comment, because it makes me believe that there is room for change in the fashion industry, and even in the mainstream. As much as I may wish that I had a doll like pout like Lindsey Wixson or gorgeous freckled skin and red hair like Cintia Dicker, I'm starting to believe that the skin I'm in isn't half bad. I might look different than most of the people around me, but different doesn't have to mean bad. I'm discovering day by day what makes me beautiful...

As the weather gets warmer, I am starting to feel a little bit of a season panic. This happens every fall and summer: It starts to feel like I have absolutely nothing suitable for the upcoming change in weather. I've settled into a routine of wearable peices for whichever season I'm in, and I feel completely lost, wardrobe wise! Of course, I know that it's untrue that I have no clothes, but it usually takes a good chunk of inspiring, weather appropriate outfits to make me feel a little less anxious. A short post today! Last night I went out, and tried a different hairstyle+makeup than my standard brushed over bangs+eyeliner formula. It's fun to randomly go over the top or out of your norm, even though doing "experimental" makeup kind of freaks me out. I'm definitely no expert, but I'm trying to learn new tricks through the internet! What do you guys think?

One of the highlights of life in the city is visits from out of town friends! My hometown is only an hour away, so when they feel so inclined, our pals come out to see Kate and I. This was one such morning! Delicious breakfast at The Red Wagon, chocolates, and girl chats... Our friend Alison even brought us daffodils!

One thing I've learned at school so far is that fashion school is not quite what the movies make it out to be. It's still school, and there isn't flashing lights and supermodels all the time. Who knew?!? Ha!

Somedays, it really does feel like a little surreal. This particular afternoon, a couple friends (Erica and Marisa) and I decided to sneak out into the sun while on break. That is something I love about fashion school: like minded people! Impromptu photoshoots? Check!

Forgive the gratuitous photos of me here, I think this is the first time y'all are seeing my new(ish) cape! I thrifted it for $3. which I think might make it my holy grail of capes!!! After seeing Erin's, I went on a mini-hunt for a similar style. That was resolved in record time! Cape love forever.

I think the fact that this editorial (June 2008/US Elle) contains lethal amounts of pink is one of the reasons it's one of my favourites, ever. I can't explain it, but I feel an intangible pull to the protagonist, who seems to suffering from wanderlust in some very lovely dresses. Sigh. This is what spring should be!
