Here Comes The Sun (Doo Doo Doo).

One thing I've learned at school so far is that fashion school is not quite what the movies make it out to be. It's still school, and there isn't flashing lights and supermodels all the time. Who knew?!? Ha!

Somedays, it really does feel like a little surreal. This particular afternoon, a couple friends (Erica and Marisa) and I decided to sneak out into the sun while on break. That is something I love about fashion school: like minded people! Impromptu photoshoots? Check!

Forgive the gratuitous photos of me here, I think this is the first time y'all are seeing my new(ish) cape! I thrifted it for $3. which I think might make it my holy grail of capes!!! After seeing Erin's, I went on a mini-hunt for a similar style. That was resolved in record time! Cape love forever.

You're The Only One That Knows.

Things are quite crazy around here! School is kicking my butt! A midterm last week, two this week, and 3 major projects in three weeks... I apologize for the lack of updates, I will try my best to resume to normal posting by Thursday. I've got lots of outfit posts archived! Until then, you can count on my tumblr for current inspiration!

It's A Hothouse.

I think the fact that this editorial (June 2008/US Elle) contains lethal amounts of pink is one of the reasons it's one of my favourites, ever. I can't explain it, but I feel an intangible pull to the protagonist, who seems to suffering from wanderlust in some very lovely dresses. Sigh. This is what spring should be!

We're All The Same, Just Stardust and Stuff.

A fun outing to Main Street for some window shopping with Kate. Didn't end up buying anything, but found a very cute porkpie hat that is on my spring wishlist. As you can see, we have a tendency to take a lot of photos. The last shot is a particular favourite, I call it my 'seducing a wall of leaves' pose.

Teenage Dream.

When I got an email a couple of months ago from Seventeen, it was all I could do to keep my lips sealed. If you flip to page 54 of the April issue, you will see a big ol' picture of yours truly! I still can't believe that the girl who used to obsessively flip through the pages of every issue of Seventeen is now in the magazine. This might seem really cheesy to you guys, but I did a big freak out dance in the bookstore when I saw that the issue was out! Thanks again for the feature Seventeen!

Speaking of teens, I may as well come out as a Gleek. I don't usually gush about the show on here, but honestly, this week's episode was ah-may-ZING. GAH! Let's just say I laughed, I cried, I squealed! This is my new theme song.

Blushing Ambition.

I think some of you might be surprised to know that I absolutely adore Annabel's minimal, subdued style. I've been a fan of hers since her (long ago) Chictopia days, and I've enjoyed seeing the slow editing and refinement of her wardrobe. I'm always in awe of those who wear seemingly "plain" articles of clothing with aplomb, and she is no exception. I wish I could be an uncomplicated and effortless dresser! I'm also a big fan of all the foodie pictures that Annabel posts, her food pictures always make my mouth water. You can find this lovely miss at Blushing Ambition.

Cupid's Arrow.

A month and two days late, this is what I wore on Valentine's Day. Tim visited me in the city, and we ate Chinese food and watched The King's Speech. It was a perfectly quiet evening after a long day at school. I have to say, even on our 5th V-Day together, my Valentine is just as sweet as ever

Speaking of love, Style is Style reached a milestone today: 600 followers! I am beyond flattered, and to all you new faces I say hello! I love all of y'all, and hope you enjoy reading Style is Style. Always feel free to drop me a line, I'd love to hear what you like/don't like/want to see around here!

Obakki.

I went to my first "real" fashion event in Vancouver on Thursday. Thanks to the dashing Julian, Marisa and I had an invite to the Obakki SS 2011 Launch Party! With the promise of free cocktails and pretty clothes, I confirmed my attendance immediately. And so the three of us were off! We unintentionally coordinated with each other (a unspoken palette of black, white and red) which was pretty hilarious. We came, we sipped, we posed and met many new faces :) There were many deliciously well dressed guests, my favourite was Tenn's denim jacket and sick tie. We had a blast dancing to Fleetwood Mac and checking out the collection. A shout out to The Starving Stylist, Genetic Boy, To Vogue Or Bust, Tatiana, and Pop Couture, it was wonderful to meet all of you! I hope to attend more fun events like this one... More coverage of the event (including me looking sooo fierce, bahaha) at TLC.

My picks from Obakki SS11? The Hume Jacket and the Keala Blouse. The prints make me melt!

P.S. Please pray for Japan.
